6.0L Power Stroke
Due to strict emission regulations, the 6.0 liter Power Stroke was introduced to replace the 7.3 liter Power Stroke. The 6.0 proved worthy of keeping the Power Stroke legacy alive, improving on the 7.3 liter's performance and fuel economy. The 6.0 liter introduced the variable geometry turbocharger to the diesel market. Despite several recalls and a plague of problems in the early years, the majority of 6.0 liter owners are more then pleased with the engines performance, and Power Strokes still continue to outsell Dodge, Chevrolet, and GMC diesel trucks.

6.0L Powerstroke Information:
• The 6.0 Liter Power Stroke is similar to the International VT365. The VT365 is essentially the same engine as the 6.0 Power Stroke, but the "Power Stroke" name is only designated when the engine is used in Ford trucks. Power output and maximum RPM are the only significant differences between the engines. VT365 stands for: Variable Geometry Turbocharger 365 cubic inches.
• The VT365 is a commonly used in International medium duty trucks.
• Despite a large deduction in engine displacement, the 6.0 liter Power Stroke outperforms its predecesor, the 7.3 liter Power Stroke.
• The 6.0 liter Power Stroke is known for its quick spooling turbocharger, which gives it increased low RPM performance and great throttle response.
• The 6.0 liter Power Stroke was featured as one of Ward's 10 best engines for 2003 in their annual top 10 review.

6.0L Power Stroke HP/Torque Graph:
It is said that the earliest 6.0L Power Strokes were plagued with the most problems. However, it is difficult to prove any correlation between the engine's model year and the percentage of trucks experiencing technical difficulties. It is correct to say that the 6.0L Power Stroke is tempermental, but for from a lemon. Owner's who have not experienced problems with their 6.0 liter will be the first to tell you just how amazing the engine really is. 6.0L owners enjoy outstanding fuel economy, little turbo lag, and a broad torque curve that makes the engine ideal for challenging the steepest of grades. The key to avoiding problems with the 6.0L Power Stroke is understanding the cause of the common problems and performing preventative maintenance as well as meticulously following the recommended service schedule provided by Ford Motor Company. Treat your 6.0L well and it will likely perform flawlessly.
