Due to strict emission regulations, the 6.0 liter Power Stroke was introduced to replace the 7.3 liter Power Stroke. The 6.0 proved worthy of keeping the Power Stroke legacy alive, improving on the 7.3 liter's performance and fuel economy. The 6.0 liter introduced the variable geometry turbocharger to the diesel market. Despite several recalls and a plague of problems in the early years, the majority of 6.0 liter owners are more then pleased with the engines performance, and Power Strokes still continue to outsell Dodge, Chevrolet, and GMC diesel trucks.
- The VT365 is a popular engine in International medium duty trucks.
- Despite a large deduction in engine displacement, the 6.0 liter Power Stroke outperforms its predecesor, the 7.3 liter Power Stroke.
- The 6.0 liter Power Stroke is known for its quick spooling turbocharger, which gives it increased low RPM performance and great throttle response.
- The 6.0 liter Power Stroke was featured as one of Ward's 10 best engines for 2003 in their annual top 10 list.
